St. Joes came out with more intensity and purpose, and that was the difference in the game. Duncan's 5 turnovers in the first half were absurd. XU played a horrible first half, but was still in the game with 5 mins left, tied 20-20. Then Calathis went on a tear, scoring on a layup where CJ made a stupid foul and gave him a chance at a 3 point play. Next time down the court, Calathis is left WIDE open and drains a 3 from the corner. How can you possibly leave their best shooter wide open?
The comeback at the end of the second half was too little too late. The only good thing to come from this loss is Drew gets another day to rest his ankle.
My prediction of BJ coming out with a big game was rather foolish. He was horrible on both sides of the court. If he is not hitting wide open jumpers, what else does he add to the team. His defense is poor, rebounding worse and he cannot take anyone to the hole. Dante had another freshmen type performance. I still like his potential in the coming years though.
I think XU is locked into a 4 seed now. A 2 is out of the question.
